‘Interim’ marks a review point in the development of an unfolding work which seeks to re- examine and extend the familiar kinetic of a household drawer unit; the formal ‘theatre’ of the new space functions as performative construct for the placement of revealed objects, drawn from a domestic context beyond the frame. This visual counterpoint serves as a catalyst for the introduction of further items loaded with reflection and suggesting future experiments.

Ian Madeley’s emerging practice has been informed by a sense of looking again at domestic spaces and a reassessment of his relationship with the objects and routines contained within them. Currently studying an MA in Media Arts at Coventry University his approaches to practice include occupation of the territory between photography and film, sound, the language of animation and performance led actions. His main artistic aim is to initiate creative re-viewings of objects and routines through re-presentation of the everyday environments and systems in which they are considered.
